Game 4

I really didn't think the Pistons had it in them. I really didn't think, after Games 1 and 2 in San Antonio, that the Pistons were good enough to play with the Western champions. And then this. A close game turns into a blowout in Game 3, and then a blowout throughout in Game 4. Seven players in double figures. Record low numbers of turnovers. A steal on every possession. Lindsey Hunter finding his stroke, although he made three or four foot-on-the-line twos. A sweet move by Darko to get to 100. Stifling defense and easy offense. Is it the home court advantage? Is it desperation? Is it health and rest? I wish I knew.

A note about Manu Ginobili: I'm sure his bruised leg is hurting him, but he did this in the regular season. After two weeks of the regular season, he was averaging 25 points with lots of threes and steals. Fantasy players went nuts. Then he cooled off -- minutes down, numbers down across the board. Throughout the season, he'd follow up huge 40-point games with 1-6 nights, or a week of 1-6 nights. He has not proven, in his short NBA career, to be a consistent player. Again, I wish I knew why.

Here are two things that happened today, June 16:

- Darko scored a basket against the Spurs to put the Pistons into triple figures.
- It rained in Palo Alto.

I'm not sure which is more shocking.

Darko scored a nice basket, no less.
